Med en stigningsprosent i snitt p\u00e5 5% stiger du 642 meter. Hvis man skal sammenligne med nabolegenden Col du Tourmalet blir dette derfor en &laquo;easy climb&raquo;. Den st\u00f8rste grunnen til dette er fordi fjellpasset ligger som nabo til monsteret Col du Tourmalet (2115m) og brukes derfor ofte i kombinasjon med dette fjellpasset. En annen nabo er Col de Peyresourde (1569m) som ogs\u00e5 kjedes opp mot Col d`Aspin n\u00e5r klatreetappene i Pyreneene planlegges. F\u00f8rste gang Col d`Aspin ble benyttet var i 1910. Dette er derfor en klassiker fra Tour de France-sammenheng, selv om dens rolle ofte har v\u00e6rt et fjell som skal gi godt med juling for bena f\u00f8r rytterne tar fatt p\u00e5 en avgj\u00f8relse i Hors Categorie fjellet Col du Tourmalet. Det er hovedsakelig de siste 5 km som er \u00e5 regne som klatring fra den siden, men disse er dog ganske s\u00e5 t\u00f8ffe med et snitt p\u00e5 ca 8% i det meste.
