Stigningen fra byen Menton og opp til toppen av Col de la Madone er kjent i sykkelverden fordi dette er en kjent treningsarena for proffer med tilhold i dette omr\u00e5det. Ikke minst var dette Lance Armstrongs klatring hvor han testet formen sin (med eller uten dop:-). Han hevdet at han gjennom \u00e5 ta tiden p\u00e5 en makstest opp Madone f\u00f8r Tour de France kunne vite om han kom til \u00e5 vinne eller ikke. Vi vet i etterkant at andre faktorer enn tid opp Madone spilte st\u00f8rre rolle for hans seire i Touren, men uansett er dette blitt en ganske ber\u00f8mt klatring mye av den grunnen.
